Desert Bloom
Depicts the regeneration cycle of the outback desert where extraordinary flowering plants burst into life after rare soaking rain. Skylarks rise celebrating with song the profusion of insect life and brilliant wildflowers. Dormant Sturt's Desert Pea explode with rapid growth spreading across tangerine dunes – a carpet of red flames. Purple heart acacia's ( needle wattle ) witness the spectacle, harbouring sack nest caterpillars among their armoury of leaves. Spiky plant stems protect delicate floral hearts as they spiral upwards, pollinate then produce seeds which fall to earth awaiting another desert downpour.
