Spinifex Country
Assemblage wood sculpture representing the harsh aspects of the outback landscape. Purple heart acacias are found growing tenaciously amongst orange sand dunes where the ground temperature can reach 5o degrees centigrade in summer. Despite the extreme climate, animals can survive amongst the protection of the ubiquitous Spinifex grass with its needle like spines or leaves. Snakes move through this protective cover searching for small birds or animals. Strewn throughout the sand dunes skeletal forms of purple heart acacias are silhouetted against a brilliant blue sky.
